常溫下硼烷會從四氫呋喃中逸出，見光和水汽分解，因此保存時要用密封鐵桶或鋼瓶，包裝要耐一定的壓力，不用時放置冷庫或冰柜中，保持零度以下，使用時開啟要緩慢，慢慢放掉容器中起壓的氣體，最好在干燥氮氣保護下使用，避免開封下長時間接觸空氣，該溶劑還原性強，一般為其飽和溶液，極易燃易爆，遠離火源和靜電！

常用的硼烷是甲硼烷(BH3 ) ,由于甲硼烷只有六個價電子, 極不穩定,通常二聚形成乙硼烷(B2H6 ) ,所以,實際上乙硼烷是最簡單的硼烷。乙硼烷由氫化鋁鋰和氟化硼在乙醚中反應制備,也可由硼氫化鈉與硫酸等質子酸或Lewis酸作用制得,硼烷在提供電子的溶劑如醚、硫醚、叔胺中可形成穩定的絡合物。硼氫化反應在室溫下即可進行,操作簡便,反應速度快,大多可得到滿意的產率。烴基硼烷作為試劑或中間體,可以制備很多有價值的化合物,在有機化學中應用廣泛,具有重要的理論和實際意義。 [1]

有機硼烷是一類非常重要的化合物，近年來在金屬有機化學、有機合成、藥物化學及材料科學中都有著越來越廣泛的應用。金屬卡賓介導的硼-氫(B-H)插入反應是構建這類化合物的潛在方法，但文獻成功的例子很少，要實現催化的不對稱硼-氫(B-H)插入反應更是困難。國際上之前僅有兩個課題組在2013年分別報道了二價銠和一價銅催化的α-重氮酯與氮雜卡賓-硼烷和氮/膦-硼加合物之間的硼-氫(B-H)插入反應((a)Curran, D.P.et al.
